Ancient Chinese Secrets For a Lasting Marriage Or Relationship

Are most long married couples unhappy with their relationship? This is the question that has being bugging me for a while. As a Feng Shui consultant, I come across many clients with less than happy marriages. Many times my clients will ask me for a 'secret' cure or recommendation that would miraculously improve their relationship with their spouse.

So, I asked a few of my married friends for their opinion. I chose this select group because they are older - over fifty years old - and have been married for many years. Their answer was quite shocking- to me. Based on their personal experience and those of their friends, they think that 90% of married couples are, in one way or another, unhappy with their relationships.

Granted that they do not live happily ever after, as in the fairy tales, this is still quite sad - if it is indeed true.

Is there a cure? Maybe there is.

In many olden societies, such as the Chinese, where arranged marriages are commonplace, it is a practice to check the horoscope (Ba Zi) of the intended couple for compatibility, before they are allowed to tie the knot.

Does this always work? It increases the chance but it does not work all the time. However through years of observation, they found out that if you combine it with some conditions, you can increase the chances of having a happy and lasting marriage.

While this wisdom is for everyone, it is even more critical for those with a history of unsuccessful marriages or relationships, to take note.

Here are some of the conditions.

In the old days, the husband must always be older than the wife. This is like a tradition. It cannot and should not be broken. However the ancients also observed that for those with unsuccessful marriages or relationships, breaking the tradition - i.e. having an older wife - can strangely be the answer. To the ancient Chinese, the wife is considered older even if she is a day older than the husband. However for better results, a wider age gap is preferred.

The other option for a more successful relationship is for the husband to be much older than the wife. To the ancient Chinese, much older means at least 8 years apart. In practice, 10 or 15 years older is perfectly acceptable or desired.

It would also increase the chances if there is a big disparity in the social and economic standard between the husband and the wife. For example the husband is a highly educated CEO of a large corporation while the wife is a much lesser educated person from a poor family. Can it be the other way around? It is unlikely in the old days because the husband is always the breadwinner. However in this modern times, where many women out-earn their husbands, why not?

This next condition only applies to the woman - at least in the old days. If she cannot be a successful first wife, it does not mean that she cannot be successful being the second or third one. So, being the other women can be an option that leads to success! I am not sure about being the other man though!

What if none of the above works?

The final option is to have a spouse that is of a different race or from a different culture. For example, an Indian and a Chinese or between two Chinese brought up in different places. For example, one brought up in China and in the other in the United States.

These are wisdoms that our forefathers have passed down to us. So, and especially, if you are relationship challenged, give it a try. There is nothing to lose!

Feng Shui Bedroom Tips - Redecorate and Re-Energize on a Budget

Wouldn't it be great to create a peaceful oasis in the middle of your busy life?Using these Feng Shui bedroom tips to redecorate your bedroom is a great way to totally change the energy of your bedroom without spending a ton of money.

The goal of decorating a Feng Shui bedroom is to achieve a balanced room, promoting energy for recuperative sleep and sexual healing.Start with your bed.Experts believe your bed is the single most important piece of Feng Shui furniture in your life! You spend 1/3 of your life there, so it has the closest connection with your personal energy. What makes a great Feng Shui bed?Start with the mattress/bedding.You want a mattress/bedding that will make you feel cocooned, comfy and provide you with the best night's sleep, since that's the key to good health during the day.Avoid used mattresses, as they retain the energy of the previous owner.Dress your bed in higher thread-count sheets and accessories made from natural fibers so you feel pampered and comfortable. Next check your headboard. The best Feng Shui headboards are solid wood or upholstered, since these offer the best combination of support and protection for your head. Finally, elevate your bed off the floor to promote good energy flow around you while you sleep.Avoid storing things under your bed, which blocks that flow.

The placement of your bed is one of the most important Feng Shui bedroom tips, as you want it to promote a loving and healing energy.Your goal is to find the Feng Shui Command Position - the area diagonal to the door, still in sight, but not directly in line with it. This includes patio, bathroom, and closet doors too.Close all of these doors at night while you sleep to allow for the most beneficial flow of energy to reinforce your good health and relationship health as well.Place your headboard against a wall for support, and make sure there are no sharp angles from furniture or walls facing your bed.

These Feng Shui bedroom tips will help you decide which furniture and accessories stay and those that go! Of course you are trying to maintain or attract a healthy relationship.Balance between partners is essential. This applies to your room as well.Place nightstands on both sides of the bed. This provides a grounding and balanced energy.Be sure the art in the room reflects the life you want to be living.Remove depressing, sad or violent art, and replace with relaxing, romantic or sensual art. Also, never place a mirror directly facing the bed.Not only does it drain your personal energy store, but it is thought to bring a "third" person into your intimate relationship - never a good idea!

Fresh air and light are essential to creating a healthy bedroom environment, so ditch the dark, depressing wall color, and open those blinds and windows. Install a dimmer switch for the main fixture to control the amount of light you need at the time, plus place bedside lamps on both sides of the bed for balance.Ditch fluorescent bulbs!Use soothing colors to achieve balance in your bedroom. Experts agree that the best Feng Shui bedroom colors are skin colors, which range from pale white to the deepest chocolate brown. Pick the one that is most soothing for you.

Accessorize your space with candles, crystals and other Feng Shui love symbols.Candles provide a healing glow, and purify the energy of your space.Choose a high quality, toxin-free candle and burn for 15 minutes before you go to bed. Place a bowl full of rose quartz to encourage love, romance and heal a broken heart.Plants are not recommended in the bedroom. They release carbon dioxide at night and possess a growing energy, both foils to a good night's sleep.

This section of Feng Shui bedroom tips addresses energy sappers in the bedroom.Experts recommend you remove these items since they interrupt a healthy energy flow and a good night's sleep: TV, exercise equipment, a home office, and pictures of your friends and family (do you really want them watching you?).If you absolutely can't avoid removing some of these items, consider separating them from the main space using a screen or curtain.

By employing a few Feng Shui bedroom tips, you can inexpensively redecorate your bedroom, completely changing the energy flow, and making it the peaceful, island of tranquility in the sea of your busy life.

Choosing Plants In Your Garden - The Feng Shui Way

The days are getting longer and gardeners are sketching out what their piece of heaven will look like this year. Adding new plants, and flowers always gives freshness and vitality to any garden space. There are a few things to consider when planting any new tree, flower, bush or plant according to Feng Shui doctrine.

- Make sure that the energy level of the plant has an upward Chi' flow and not a downward one. Most plants grow in an upward direction, this is good, energetic Chi'. But, certain specimens, i.e., a Weeping Willow, have a downward or negative Chi' flow. This is not auspicious.

- Be aware of cutting Chi' energy. Sharp, pointy, spiked specimens epitomize cutting Chi'. They also are harmful to touch. Think of roses with thorns, bougainvillea, holly trees, cactus........you get the idea.....Ouch!

- Vines that climb and overtake trees, small bushes and even houses, must be maintained. If
they are not cut back, they become Sha, or negative Chi' energy. Examples of this: Ivy, Wisteria & Climbing Bittersweet.

- Plant hearty, native specimens in your garden. Unhealthy, weak dying plants or flowers are undesirable Feng Shui. They also are considered Sha energy. Not to mention the fact, that they become an eye sore and you may have to replace the weak plants. This, of course, is not cost efficient. Buy only from reliable sources; this will help to ensure beautiful plant specimens.

Feng Shui and the land are very intertwined. By following a few simple Feng Shui rules, you will ensure that the Chi' (life force energy) will flow throughout your garden. By surrounding yourself with healthy, beautiful plants your garden will not only be Feng Shui correct, it will be a joy to live with.

Discovering Love Matches With Love Chinese Astrology

Founded on the blend of Yin and Yang and the Five Elementals, Chinese Astrology is a way of finding out the future and finding your love matches. The five elemental signs are fire, metal, water, wood, and earth. The signs of the Chinese Zodiac are Rat, Cow, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Chinese astrology is much older than Western Astrology. It is fun to use love Chinese Astrology guides.

The Zodiac signs represent instead of the twelve months like Western Astrology a twelve year time span. The twelve animals were believed to be chosen by Buddha and supposedly, each represent a quality that all animals possess. Chinese Astrology has many different kinds of love kinds, but the most commonly used is the fast match.

Chinese Astrology can use its Zodiac to match up compatible people with their signs. In the fast match the exact date of birth date, month, day, and year are matched with that of the person of interest. The chart then takes the dates and matches it up and tells you your compatibility based on each of your signs.

The animals rule in ranking order for twelve years then start over. The pattern began again in 2008 with Rat followed by Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. So, if you were born in February or after of 1996 then you are a Rat. Each animal is placed in an affinity group and an affinity pair. The affinity group is divided into four groups and they are listed as follows: Ox, Snake, and Rooster; Tiger, Horse, and Dog; Rat, Dragon, and Monkey; and Rabbit, Goat, and Pig. There are six affinity pairs: Rat and Ox, Tiger and Pig; Rabbit and Dog; Dragon and Rooster; Snake and Monkey; and Horse and Goat. Your most compatible match is found in the affinity groups and your second most compatible is your affinity pair.

Now, that you know your sign you can match up. There are groups that each sign falls into for compatibility. These are affinity groups and affinity pairs. The affinity group is where you find your best match. These groups are Ox, Snake, and Rooster; Tiger, Horse, and Dog; Rat, Dragon, and Monkey; and Rabbit, Goat, and Pig. The affinity pairs are pairs that you look into for your second best match. These are Rat and Ox; Tiger and Pig; Rabbit and Dog; Dragon and Rooster; Snake and Monkey; and Horse and Goat. One more group to consider is the clashing signs group. These are signs that are very incompatible matches. These are the pairs: Rat and Horse; Ox and Goat; Tiger and Monkey; Rabbit and Rooster; Dragon and Dog; and Snake and Pig. Signs that are not listed together in any group and you want to know the compatibility of, well, the easiest way is just to find out about each personality. That should help.

When looking into the love Chinese Astrology this is fun to take into account. The signs are based on personality traits, but it is not always accurate. Even people with clashing signs have ended up being very compatible couples. This is a fun way to find out a side of the personality of the person you are interested in.

Cotton Candy

This delicious dessert made of sugar and food coloring was first introduced during St. Louis World fair, in 1904 by William Morrison and John C. Wharton. It's also known as fairy floss. Unlike the olden days, today there are improved and better machines used in making candy cotton. Generally this machines are made up of a small ball in the middle where sugar is poured and food color added. This mixture is then melted through heating, after a few steps of spinning it's solidified and ready.

Traditionally, candy cotton is pink in color. However, it's also available in other colors such as orange, white, yellow, blue or purple. Carnivals, amusement parka or circus are some of the places where we can easily get it. Have you ever watched it when it's being made? If you've, then you'll agree with me its quite interesting. Actually what's funny, its as big as an adult head in the first stages when making it.

I know you don't buy that story of how it can cause cavity in your teeth, well am not saying your folks are wrong but it's not as bad as some make it look. Did you know that there 130-170 calories in a can of soft drink compared to only 100 calories in candy? Well, you do the math. The most important thing is to take care of your teeth.

Generally, most of us think that cotton candy is only for children. To be honest, if you enquire from your grand parents, you would be surprised when they first tasted it's sweet taste. They might even wonder around in their mind just reminiscing of the good old days.

Looking for and buying a new home is not an easy nor cheap task. This makes home remodeling a financially sounder decision than moving out. Just imagine all the things that you've been through before you got the house that you love, and the dear neighborhood that it comes with. And with the situation that the New York real estate market is in, chances of finding a better home is slimmer and could be very stressful as well as expensive.

Other than changing the look and feel of any room in the house, home remodeling can also be a sensible solution for several factors that affect your everyday living including:

Enhancements

To be able to live comfortably, it is crucial to keep up with the times and update your homes. The housing market has been revolutionized and even each room can be branded as trendy or out of style. Aside from this, technological developments and innovative designs can now be availed to make life more comfortable, enjoyable and easier. Home remodeling can be your tool to achieve and integrate modernity and luxury into your daily lives.

Maintenance

Home remodeling can be your answer to whatever repair needs while maintaining the beauty and functionality of your home. To avoid the hassles of facing larger issues that entails more costly and additional repairs, it is best to attend to minor damages before their condition becomes worse. By sticking to a regular schedule of home evaluation and maintenance, you could also add years to the life of your house.

Safety and Security

Security and comfort are some of the essentials that our homes provide. This makes keeping your houses equipped and safe from burglary, fires, natural calamities and other unforeseen events crucial. There are also circumstances that make home remodeling a must to keep the household safe such as making it child-proof or easily accessible in case of disabilities.

There are various reasons why homeowners think of undertaking a home remodeling project. As time goes by, your and your family's wants and needs are changing and what you currently have may not be enough to meet these. The home is getting older, out of style and not as functional. But whatever the reason, the project would eventually turn out to be well worth the cost as the family starts to enjoy the great transformations. To make sure that you'll give value to every cent you plan to spend, ensure quality in the materials, products, and craftsmanship. Look not on the price tag but into the durability and operability that a product offers and hire one of the best local contractors.

Installing Cheap Homemade Solar Panels For Your Home

Recent data indicates that a growing number of people are turning to cheap homemade solar panels to reduce their dependence on expensive electricity. Previously, having solar panels installed in your home could cost up to $30,000, which is a very large sum of money. Staying Put - Making a House Into the Home We Love

In the past few decades we have been a society on the move. It was not uncommon for families to relocate a number of times within the country or a region because of work or more often just to find a better home.It seems that that trend is slowing due to the economy but also a reevaluation of those ways of thinking. The relationships to community and friends that evolve because of where we live are increasing in value.

Instead of moving, more families are making their existing home, their dream home. Some of our clients who bought a house 30 years ago, have never moved but now find that their lifestyle has changed and want to expand and renovate a dated starter home in a neighborhood they have grown to love. My wife's family has a group of friends that have known each other for 50 years and they could not imagine moving even a street away. They are closer than most extended families I know.

We are finding that clients are adding more specialty rooms like home offices, sewing rooms, sun rooms, and more comfortable master bedroom suites.Porches and kitchen renovations are as popular as ever.As the boomer generation continues to mature, accessibility becomes a more important issue. In addition to wanting to be more comfortable, boomers are also interested in creating spaces that work for their grandchildren and their families.

Appreciating where and how we live is a trend worth following, and staying put is a good way to start.

Installing Pergo Floors in Your Home Yourself

If you are going to be installing Pergo flooring yourself, the following are some brief tips from a do-it-yourself home owner just like you!

Installing Pergo flooring in your home can be a great, low cost, home improvement decision. It is fairly durable, extremely easy to clean, and installing Pergo flooring is easy. The look is welcoming, providing any area in your home with a warm look and feel of wood. You have a wide array of colors and styles to choose from, so you will certainly find something to suit your home's needs.

To begin, you will need specific tools and supplies begin installing Pergo flooring in your home. There are two types of flooring offered, glue and glueless. No matter what type of flooring you choose to install, you will need a plastic vapor barrier, a saw, and padding. If you choose the glue model, you will need other supplies, such as tightening straps and tapping block.

Before you begin installing Pergo flooring, there are numerous home improvement classes offered at a regular basis for no charge at home improvement stores. Its highly recommended that you take a class to familiarize yourself with the common problems and issues you will encounter. You will be able to learn firsthand how to install the floor, and you will be able to ask an installation expert any questions you may have regarding installing Pergo flooring. Plus, all the supplies you will need when installing Pergo flooring are there in the class.

You can plan on installing Pergo flooring over cement, tile, vinyl, or in place of carpet. The planks should be installed over special, specific padding to help with noise as well as a vapor barrier (especially if you install over concrete) to keep moisture out. These are all things you need to discuss with your home improvement supplier.

Measure the rooms and get your square footage before you go to a class or to pick out the material. You will be able to bring home samples to help you decide on the color of your new floors if needed. At this time, plan the direction that the wood planks should lay. When installing Pergo flooring in a narrow or long room, lay it down lengthwise; or, if you are installing the flooring in a room with a large window, lay it feeding towards the window.

One of the first steps you take after you have brought home the materials is to let the boxes sit open in the room you plan on installing Pergo flooring in for at least 48 hours. If you live in or will be installing Pergo flooring in an area of extremely high or low humidity, you should let the open box sit for up to 96 hours exposing the wood materials to the room's environment. Allowing the box to sit allows the material to get acclimated, and will decrease the chances for swelling and/or shrinking once you complete the job.

When you install Pergo flooring, you are creating a floating floor. The planks should not be glued or secured to the subfloor in anyway to allow for movement with humidity and temperature. (The expansion distance is 1/4 inch in normal climates). This is important to note in areas you are installing like at corners, angles and openings such as doorways.

Two essential installation supplies when using a glue system are the tapping block and the tightening straps. These are used to make sure the pieces of flooring are connected tightly and smoothly with less gapping. Before adding glue, lay the first three rows down to see what the floor will look like and if the pieces will fit. If you have a board close (less than 2) to the wall (or end of spatial area), rearrange the first pieces to make them all fit.

Installing laminate floor in your home is a big task, but a very rewarding one. Upkeep of the surface is easy and there are specific details and instructions on maintenance and damage repair to these types of floors once you have them installed. For more reading, check out the information below.

Home Remodeling - Finding the Right Person For the Job

So you're not the perfect blend of Martha Stewart and Bob Vila. That's all right. Your home can still look the way you imagine with a little help from your area architects or designers.

The first step to remodeling your home is to determine whether you will need an architect or a designer. Generally speaking, you need an architect if you plan to tear down or move walls. Some research on the Internet or at your local library should provide you with a good sense of which one is the right person for your job. Once this is determined, contact several architects or designers the area and begin the interview process. Interview several candidates to get some perspective on the different options available to you.

During the interview, find out what credentials your candidates hold in their fields, but don't stop there. Once you have learned the credentials, ask what organizations monitor these credentials, and find out what the candidates did to earn these credentials.

Find out how long the candidate has worked in your area. Generally, the longer the person has worked in one area, the better. It is difficult to do business in one locale for a long time with a bad reputation hovering in the background.

Ask your candidates if they have any completed projects you could tour to learn more about their ability and style. This may also give you an opportunity to talk to former clients face to face. Be sure to ask for references, and, of course, be wary if your candidate is reluctant to give names.

While "how much will this cost" is an important question, also ask how your candidate will be paid. What up front fees must you pay and what amount will be charged throughout the process? Find out if you will be charged to make changes to the plans while in the floor-plan stage. And, asking what would happen if the project goes over budget will help you determine who will be responsible to pay for any changes necessary to scale back the project.

Be clear about the kind of services your candidate will provide. You will find a range of responses to this question. Some candidates will only draw up the plans and then turn them over to you to implement. Others will draw the plans and work on the project to the end by overseeing the contractors. In the same vein, ask the person you are interviewing what they can do to "show" you how certain changes will look in your home. This can be done through drawings depicting your remodeled home (called interior elevations), scale models, or virtual reality computer programs that allow you to "walk through" your remodeled home.

And remember, during this interview you shouldn't be doing all of the talking. A competent candidate should be initiating questions about your house, your family's lifestyle, and your tastes to gain a sense of your wants and needs. These types of conversations generate new ideas that expand the possibilities for your remodeled home.

Using Satellite Photographs, Topographic Maps, Google Earth 3D For Feng Shui Research

Recently, I came across a software which allows me to access great deal of satellite photos. Then an idea comes to my mind, I can perform some research with these satellite photos. If we have access to topographic maps, aerial photographs, together with the use of satellite photos and maps, we will be to make a great deal of landform research without leaving our homes.

This software which gives me the access to satellite photographs is Google Earth 3D. Although it is a free software, it also provides paid premium services. As a start, the free version is good enough for me as it already allows me to access the satellite images of great deal of cities (New York, London, Beijing, Tokyo, Paris, Singapore, and alot more) and places. I can even locate the house I'm staying in with Google Earth 3D. With the software, we can also tilt and rotate the view to see 3D terrain and buildings, providing even more flexibility for the research.

Besides displaying these satellite photographs, Google Earth 3D also let us find the distances between places, which is another big plus.

We can perform research on things like incoming roads, incoming water, outgoing water, incoming mountains around the places of our interests. These satellite photographs should provide us with great deal of information and idea of the places before we personally going down to perform even more refine research. The terrain feature and the ability to zoom in and out also allow us to perform analysis from the town aspect, or even from the city aspect. We can trace the rivers which run over a great deal of distances, the great mountains which link to the smaller mountains. There is some much we can do with this free resource.

Today's high tech resources have enable us to carry out even more research, and the access to these satellite photographs is definitely one of the fantastic resources out there.

Successfully Grow a Bonsai Tree Indoors

When considering growing bonsai trees indoors you have to bear in mind that bonsai are still trees, and trees in their natural state belong outdoors. There really is no such thing as an indoor bonsai tree. Being a "tree in a pot" (bonsai) makes no difference to that.

Many bonsai beginners visualize themselves with a collection of bonsai trees indoors, and that is probably a result of seeing pictures in books and magazines showing bonsai in an indoor setting, or visiting a nursery where the trees are under cover temporarily for convenience.

Does that mean it's not possible to keep bonsai indoors? No, but there are a number of provisos.

First of all, a healthy tree will thrive when in its natural setting. If it is not in its natural setting (such as indoors) then it may still thrive but this will depend on special care being taken to ensure that it enjoys an environment that is as natural to it as possible.

It may be easier to grow bonsai trees indoors if you live in a warm climate, but of more importance is the type of tree you wish to grow indoors. A temperate tree is at home in a temperate climate and will not like being brought indoors except in severe winter weather, when special measures should be taken to accommodate it with regard to temperature and light.

The main reason is that such a tree needs a lengthy period of dormancy each year, and that is brought on by low temperatures - around 10C or lower for 40 to 50 days. If you deprive your temperate bonsai of this cool or cold period then it will appear to carry on without ill effect for anything up to a couple of years, but it will actually be fatal.

If you live in a cold climate then even temperate bonsai trees will occasionally need protection from the cold. This is because their roots are in a shallow pot and are therefore not afforded the protection that their larger cousins in the wild are. It is common practice in these circumstances to give winter protection to even temperate trees in very cold weather by bringing them indoors, but extra steps must then be taken to ensure adequate levels of light and humidity for the trees not to suffer.

What about tropical and sub-tropical species, then? Generally speaking these can be grown successfully indoors, and would in fact need to be kept indoors in cold winter weather. However, their natural cycle should be imitated as closely as possible, as even though they don't have a period of dormancy as such, they still have a slower growing period in the winter.

Special measures have to be taken to ensure they receive adequate light. Putting them in front of a window is not good enough. The glass blocks out the essential UV light (needed for photosynthesis), and can even give the tree leaf-burn if the sunlight is fierce. The quantity of light will in any event be totally inadequate, unless supplemented with around 80W of artificial light around 6 inches above the plant for at least 12 hours a day. Either standard or fluorescent lighting can be used.

The atmosphere inside many houses is more arid than in the desert. This is usually due to central heating or air conditioning. Each indoor bonsai tree should have a sufficiently humid atmosphere, such as by being kept next to a pool of water shallow enough to dry out each day. This will prevent the build-up of algae and discourage pests.

Don't place any trees near to radiators as these areas commonly have extreme temperature ranges. Your bonsai plants need fairly constant temperatures, without extremes. Ensure there is an adequate degree of air circulation, but avoid drafts.

You will have to constantly check for moisture levels. On no account must your bonsai trees be allowed to dry out. Whilst watering outdoor plants every day is a sound policy, indoor plants have to be monitored for their requirements. They won't necessarily need watering every day. This will depend on the species and their environment. But when you do water them do so with a watering can with a rose head. Water in short bursts, to allow absorption by the soil, and repeat until water is dripping from the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot.

Indoor plants should be fed fertilizer every two weeks, according to their individual requirements. You will also have to check for mite infestation regularly. Examine the underside of leaves for signs of webbing or debris.

So, to summarize - yes, you can grow bonsai trees indoors, but you have to be prepared to take special measures to ensure their special needs are met and their environment is as close to natural as possible.

The Special Secret of Intuition

The limbic system

Nerve impulses were known to relay feelings and emotions - whether they be the feel of silk, or the flush of shame. Sensors, or nerve endings reported on feelings from tissues all over the body. These included sharp pain, burning pain, cool or warm temperature, itching, muscle contraction, joint movements, soft touch, mechanical stress, tickling, flushing, hunger and thirst. Electrical excitation of certain parts of the temporal lobe, caused intense fear to be produced in patients. Excitation of other parts caused feelings of isolation, loneliness, disgust, or even pleasure. Out of millions of possible combinations of relayed nerve impulses from the limbic system, the seat of emotions, the mind differentiated the current combination to sense feelings and emotions. The ruling combination made you feel anger, fear, or shame.

The limbic system controls.

More often than not, these feelings and emotions controlled you. Did your wishes, or the limbic system finally decide your actions? This was easily verified by testing, say, your ability to hold up your hand. Of course, the hand obeyed your wish while sitting alone in a room. But, it would be frozen in place in, say, a theatre. Fear of public opinion decided the issue. The limbic system decided that it was not appropriate. It was the same when you first wished to jump off the high diving board. Fear of falling decided NO! The limbic system made you rigid. There were so many situations, when emotions ruled, while your wishes waited in the wings. Scientists reported that such responses of the mind occurred within a bare 20 milliseconds. The nervous system processed all available information and commanded the muscles to be frozen in just that span of time.

The holistic character of the mind.

The system, with over a hundred billion neurons, processed the information from input to output in just half a second. All your knowledge was evaluated. Walter Freeman, the famous neurobiologist, defined this amazing ability. The cognitive guys think it's just impossible to keep throwing everything you've got into the computation every time. But, that is exactly what the brain does. Consciousness is about bringing your entire history to bear on your next step, your next breath, your next moment. The mind was holistic. It evaluated all its knowledge for the next activity. How could so much information be processed so quickly?

Combinatorial coding

The mind received kaleidoscopic combinations of millions of sensations. Of these, smells were reported to be recognized through a combinatorial coding process, where nerve cells recognized combinations. If a nerve cell had dendritic inputs, identified as A, B, C and so on to Z, it could then fire, when it received inputs at ABC, or DEF. It recognized those combinations. The cell could identify ABC and not ABD. It would be inhibited for ABD. This recognition process was recently reported by science for olfactory neurons. In the experiment scientists reported that even slight changes in chemical structure activated different combinations of receptors. Thus, octanol smelled like oranges, but the similar compound octanoic acid smelled like sweat. A Nobel Prize acknowledged that discovery in 2004.

Nerve cell memories

Combinatorial codes were extensively used by nature. The four "letters" in the genetic code A, C, G and T were used in combinations for the creation of a nearly infinite number of genetic sequences. The book, The Intuitive Algorithm, (IA), discusses the deeper implications of this coding discovery. Animals could differentiate between millions of smells. Dogs could quickly sniff a few footprints of a person and determine accurately which way the person was walking. The animal's nose could detect the relative odour strength difference between footprints only a few feet apart, to determine the direction of a trail. Smell was identified through remembered combinations. If a nerve cell had just 26 inputs from A to Z, it could receive millions of possible combinations of inputs. The average neuron had thousands of inputs. For IA, millions of nerve cells, could have galactic memories for combinations. This could enable the mind to recognize patterns in the environment.

A pattern recognition problem.

IA disputed the assumption of most scientists that neural interactions were computations - maths, or logic based. Because, no formula could compute the loss of a loved one and feel the pain. The elegance of the mind could never be explained by computations, or by convoluted reasoning chains. But, pattern recognition could be infinitely subtle. Unfortunately, the recognition of subtle patterns posed formidable problems. The difficulty was an exponential growth of the recognition search path. The problems in the diagnosis of diseases was typical. Normally, many shared symptoms were presented by a multitude of diseases. For example, pain, or fever could be indicated for many diseases. Each symptom pointed to several diseases. When searching for the target disease, the first selected ailment with the first presented symptom could lack the second symptom. So, the back and forth searches expanded exponentially as the database of diseases increased in size. That made the process absurdly long drawn theoretically, even years of search, for extensive databases. So rapid pattern recognition could never be imagined.

An elimination algorithm.

But, industry strength pattern recognition was feasible. IA introduced an algorithm, which could instantly recognize patterns in extended databases. The key was to evaluate the whole database, using elimination, not selection. Every member of the database was individually coded for elimination in the context of each answer. For disease recognition, if an answer indicated a symptom, IA eliminated all diseases devoid of the symptom. If the symptom was absent, IA eliminated all diseases which always exhibited the symptom. Diseases, which randomly presented the symptom were retained in both cases. Every answer eliminated, narrowing the search to reach diagnosis. When several parallel answers were received, recognition was instant. IA acted with the speed of a simple recalculation on a spreadsheet, to recognize a disease, identify a case law or diagnose the problems of a complex machine. It was instant, holistic, and logical. The website www.intuition.co.in and the book explain IA in detail. Real time pattern recognition was practical. Elimination was the key. And, intuition used elimination.

Elimination inhibition to recognize.

Elimination was switching off - inhibition. Nerve cells were known to extensively inhibit the activities of other cells to highlight context. With access to millions of sensory inputs, the nervous system instantly inhibited eliminated trillions of combinations to zero in on the right pattern. The process stoutly used No answers. If a patient did not have pain, thousands of possible diseases could be ignored. If a patient could just walk into the surgery, a doctor could overlook a wide range of illnesses. Elimination was the pivotal key, which evaluated vast combinatorial memories. Medical texts reported that the mind had a hierarchy of intelligences, which performed independent tasks. For example, there was an association region, which recognized a pair of scissors using the context of its feel. If you injured this region, you could still feel the scissors with your eyes closed, but you would not recognize it as scissors. You still felt the context, but you would not recognize the object. So, intuition could enable nerve cells in association regions to recognize objects. Medical research reported many such recognition regions.

The mind seamless pattern recognition.

A pattern recognition algorithm, intuition enabled the finite intelligences in the minds of living things to respond holistically within the 20 millisecond time span. These intelligences acted serially. The first intelligence converted the kaleidoscopic combinations of sensory perceptions from the environment into nerve impulses. The second intelligence recognized these impulses as objects and events. The third intelligence translated the recognized events into feelings. A fourth translated feelings into intelligent drives. A feeling of fear could dictate an escape drive, whose purpose was to achieve safety. That demanded instant translation into responsive actions, varying across species. A deer bounded away. A bird took flight. A fish swam off. While the activities of running, flying and swimming differed, they achieved the same objective of escaping. Half a second for a 100 billion nerve cells to use context to eliminate irrelevance and deliver motor output. The time between the shadow and the scream. So, from input to output, the mind was a seamless pattern recognition machine, powered by the key secret of intuition contextual elimination, from massive acquired and inherited combinatorial memories in nerve cells.

Abraham Thomas is the author of The Intuitive Algorithm, a book, which suggests that intuition is a pattern recognition algorithm. This leads to an understanding of the powerful forces that control your mind. The ebook version is available at http://www.intuition.co.in - The book may be purchased only in India. The website, provides a free movie and a walk through to explain the ideas.

Create a Welcoming Environment

When you enter your home, do you feel a warm welcome, and a sense of satisfaction? When you go to work, are you greeted by a desk covered with projects and things to do? If so, how does that feel? Is this an environment that welcomes and energizes you or is this an environment that drains and depletes you? Creating your ideal environment means looking honestly at what's working and what isn't working in your living and working environments.

Is your home or office disorganized and filled with clutter? When you're surrounded by clutter you are literally blocked, physically and mentally. It's impossible to be fully productive. Productive energy cannot find its way through piles of papers, remnants of unfinished projects, broken or unused furnishings, or randomly placed tools and equipment.

Go through your belongings. How much do you actually use? Are there items you've been holding onto that you don't use, don't like or don't really have a use for? These are the types of things that create clutter in our environments, clutter that not only takes up valuable space in our physical environment, but clutter that also takes up space in the quality of our life. When space is blocked, life takes on a certain sluggishness. We may have great ideas and plans but we lack the motivation necessary to accomplish them.

Creating an environment that supports your needs means taking the time to determine how you live and who you are. A simple and powerful way to begin is to answer the following questions:

What do you like most about your life right now?

What are your strengths?

What are your weaknesses?

What is your attitude about the circumstances of your life? Your home?

What is your mood when you are alone?

Are there areas that you need to work on to improve the quality of your life?

Is there a conflict between the way you actually spend your time and the way you'd like to spend your time?

If so, what are you willing to do to change this?

Are there aspects of your life, your responsiblities that someone else could do to free up time for you so you could do those things you desire?

Do your relationships have the depth of intimacy you desire?

Is the amount of creative expression you have in your life satisfying?

What do you want to do that you aren't doing?

When you think of home, what are three symbols that embrace the spirit of home? For me they are, comfort, personality, and welcome.

What room in your home do you like best? Why?

Where do you like to read?

Where do you like to sit?

What do you like to do when you're at home?

What objects hold the most meaning for you?

Which room or area of your home most captures your personality?

How would you describe your home?

Is it what you want it to be?

In answering the questions above (and any others that may come up for you during the exercise), be honest and truthful with yourself. When we take time to think deeply about ourselves and our spaces, we open the door to possibility. We create the energy that supports change by simply increasing our own awareness.

Review the furnishings, the colors, the lighting and all aspects of those rooms, those areas in your home that you like best. Recreate what you like in other areas of your home. Starting with your main living spaces, your bedroom, your living or family room and then work your way through the rest of your home. When you take the time to invest in your home, you are investing in yourself. Recognize your needs, understand that what you like matters, give yourself permission to create a home that embraces the spirit of your personality and you will have Created Your Ideal Environment!

Just do it!

Is the Bible Historically Accurate? Do You Ever Seek Truthful Answers?

I'm going to start with the first book of the holy Bible, Genesis chapter 1 verse one through five. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

And God said," let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

If the Bible is historically accurate, did God actually create earth. I have been battling over this, my whole life. It's very easy for someone to accept and believe in any religion, government, other people or whatever they truly desire to make real. I see it every day of my life, open your eyes and you will see it to.

It's hard to imagine that a superior entity like God created everything that we touch and see. The moon itself is pretty big and the creation of the sun would prove to be a little more difficult, but if you're God and your all knowing and all powerful, he or she or it, must be one incredible being.

This is only the first couple of paragraphs in the Bible and there is no, I repeat no, historical accuracy to this event. It seems like God or man, whoever wrote the Bible, should have started the Bible with something a little more believable for people that live in the 21st century. It's not hard to imagine someone 2000 years ago, believing in something like this.

2000 years ago the Romans were worshiping their own gods, we might find this ridiculous today but back then the Romans would punish you if you didn't worship their gods. We are not too far from that today. If we don't stop organized religion and their influence on humanity, we're going to have serious problems in the future.

The biggest problem I foresee is common sense. If the Bible has 500 historical accurate facts that can be proven without a doubt by historians, scholars and other intelligent people, but has one thing that can't be explained, how do we handle this. How do we handle the fact that the Bible states God created light? If this is false, what else is false in the Bible.

How to Create More Good Luck For Yourself in 2009

I mentioned in my previous article that this is a double Earth year. 2009 is the Earth Ox year, and Ox also represents Earth. This article is specially written for 3 groups of people. Firstly, those born in Earth months. People born in Earth months already have plenty of Earth in their 8 characters. They don't need more Earth. More Earth will only cause their luck cycle to be down.

There are 2 people in my family born in Earth months. Not only that, their chart is dominated by Earth. They are my grandmother and my eldest aunt. I am quite concerned about them, especially in terms of health. Though this article is also for them, both of them don't use the internet. I will still have to advise them verbally.

The Earth months are as follows:

Dragon Month: 5th April to 5th May

Sheep Month: 7th July to 7th August

Dog Month: 8th October to 7th November

Ox Month: 6th January to 3rd February

The next group of people are those born in Autumn (8th August to 7th October). This group of people are not affected as much as those born in Earth months, but they still need to improve their luck cycle. As I mentioned before,Autumn people have a lot of Metal in their 8 characters. Metal is unfavorable to them. Since this is a double Earth year, it will produce more Metal, which is unfavorable.

The last group of people are the Winter born people (8th November to 5th January). Among the 3 groups, you are the least affected. Your luck cycle will be quite average this year, as Earth weakens Fire, which is your favorable element.

Before you can improve your luck cycle, you need to know which element is needed. Whatever information I share with you here is only 80% accurate, as I don't have your exact date of birth. But basing on month, I can tell you which are likely your favorable elements.

For those born in Earth months, you need to increase the effect of Wood in 2009. Wood destroys Earth. By using Wood, you can improve your luck cycle in 2009. This especially applies to Fire people born in Earth months. If you are born in Autumn or Winter, you will need both Fire and Wood.

Fire first because Autumn and Winter are consider the cold seasons. Wood is used to strengthen the Fire and keep it going. For Autumn people, you need Fire because Fire helps to weaken Metal. This especially applies if you are an Earth or Fire person born in Autumn. For Autumn people, Wood alone also works, as Metal destroys Wood,Wood will help to weaken the strong Metal.

For the Winter people, Fire is the most important element as you need to "anti-freeze". With only Wood, there is not much effect. You need to have Fire first, then Wood. In conclusion, Wood and Fire are required for improving your luck cycle this year. Next, I will list out what are the 16 things you can do on a daily basis to increase the effect of Wood and Fire in your life.

1. Using Green. This can mean wearing more Green clothes, wearing anything Green or using anything Green. (Increases Wood)

2. Spending more time at book shops or libraries. Reading more newspapers or magazines. Spending more time writing on paper. Paper represents the Wood element. (Increases Wood)

3. Spending more time shopping for clothes, wearing more than 1 layer of clothes. As mentioned earlier, Green is Wood. Wearing more Green will increase the effect more. If you are in the army, 2009 will be quite good for you. (Increases Wood)

4. Go for morning walks at the park, especially from 5am to 7am. 5am to 7am is the Rabbit hour. It is the hour with the most Wood throughout the whole day. During your morning walk, go and touch the biggest tree you can find. (Increases Wood)

5. Travel East or face East. East is the direction of Wood. (Increases Wood)

6. Hang around or spend more time with people born in Spring (4th February to 4th April). These people have lots of Wood in their 8 characters. They can help you reduce the effect of Earth. (Increases Wood)

7. Eating more vegetables, especially leafy green ones. Better if you go vegetarian. (Increases Wood)

8. Keeping a Rabbit or Cat as a pet. In Chinese Astrology, the Rabbit and Tiger represents Wood. Since Tigers and cats are from the same family, cats also represent Wood. By keeping these 2 types of animals as pets, you can increase Wood. If you don't want the hassle of keeping pets, you can also have figures or soft toys of these 2 types of animals. (Increases Wood)

9. Using Red,Orange or Purple. This means wearing clothes of these colors and using anything with these colors. (Increases Fire)

10. Go sun tanning, spending more time at your computer, spending more time at lighting shops or electrical appliance shops. (Increases Fire)

11. Spending more time talking on your cell phone. The effect of Fire is stronger when using your cell phone as compared to your home or office phone. (Increases Fire)

12. Eat more hot and spicy or BBQ food. Better still if you barbecue the food yourself. Cooking is also a Fire activity. Even by spending more time in the kitchen is also considered increasing Fire in your life. (Increases Fire)

13. Spend more time with people born in Summer (6th May to 6th July). These people have too much Fire. They'll love to have someone (usually Winter people) to come along and help them balance their Fire. (Increases Fire)

14. Keeping your bathroom lights (your bedroom's bathroom) on throughout the night. This increases Fire and reduces Water. (Increases Fire)

15. Travel South or face South. South is the direction of Fire. (Increases Fire)

16. Spend more time driving, especially if you have a Red car. Cars represent Fire. The longer you stay in your car, the stronger the effect of Fire. (Increases Fire)

I hope you will benefit from these 16 tips. Next article, I will share with you basing on your chinese horoscope, what 2009 has in store for you. Stay tuned!

Feng Shui - Simple Floor Plans 1, 2, 3

Assembling a simple floor plan can be no easy matter. If you are lucky enough to have an architectural to-scale floor plan or your home, office or abode you are way ahead of the game and the pack. On the other hand most of us do not have the luxury of a to-scale floor plan at our fingertips.

Do not despair assembling such a floor plan is not difficult. Its all in the process of making a simple plan with the sitting direction orientated on the bottom of the page or pages.

What are the steps to drawing up such a document? First of all you must consider that all exterior and interior entrances and doorways must be included. Along with this are all the windows, beds and desks. Next accurately measure your interior spaces. The key here is total accuracy. Nothing else will do. Easiest and best are the new laser type measuring devices that make accurate measurement a snap. If you are caught for lack of supplies or finances a standard regular old fashioned tape measure will do. Just follow the adage of "measure twice, cut once". Some people have conducted inaccurate measurements using their actual feet and estimating distances. This can be considered false economy both in terms of the actual final costs as well as your time. Measure all extremely accurately and comprehensively.

Measure the length of each room by starting with the back walls. If you can begin with the back wall that is connected close to your sitting area of your dwelling. Continue on with adjacent rooms starting of course with rooms with the back walls. Move forward in the building towards the front part sequentially. When you are finished with these accurate measurements you will find it extremely easy to draw a simple to-scale floor plan. It's easiest to make changes to your "map" or diagram if you use either and erasable pen or a simple pencil rather than a permanent ink pen.

The next step, in this process, is to divide your dwelling or business space into nine equal "cells". This can be simply done by adding together the lengths of each room. Next divide the length sum and the width sum by three. You might find this whole process of calculations easier , if you attach simple pieces of masking tape at each of the dividing markers on your inside walls. "Masking " tape is used by professional painters as a standard means of attaching to or masking areas of walls without any apparent or lasting damage done to the exterior surfaces and finishes of walls. Along the way note the corresponding marker or markers on your floor plan. Now with a colored pencil, draw a line connecting the length and width markers. You will now when you have completed this step when you have a floor plan onto which there is a grid of nine equal cell areas. If the cells appear not to be proportionate to your actual spaces then check or even recheck your work. Of course if your home is more than one story high, you must draw a separate floor plan for each floor of the building.

Now you are on the home stretch. The final step is to label your completed 9 cell floor plan. Outside, label each of the eight directions. Mark down and note sitting and facing areas with identifiable diagrams and markers noting each family member's area or areas.

Voila you now have completed your architecturally correct to-scale floor plan. Feng Shui.

Chinese Astrology

There is a belief amongst the Chinese community that those who are born four years apart are more compatible than those who are born six year apart. And those that are born 6 years apart are likely to be less compatible. Do you know why?

In the 12 Animals Zodiac system of astrology, our character is influenced by our year of birth. For example those born in the year of the rat are intelligent and suspicious while those born in the year of the horse are generous and loves freedom. Based on our year of birth we are imbued with certain characteristics that make us more of less compatible with each other.

According to the ancient Chinese, the Monkey, Rat and Dragon form a compatible set. They have characteristics that make them more compatible with each other. The other compatible sets are the Snake, Rooster and Ox; the Pig, Rabbit and Goat and the Tiger, Horse and Dog. If you check the year of birth you notice that they are four years apart. For example those born in 1964 are Rats, 1968 are Dragons and 1972 are Monkeys!

The Rat on the other hand is supposedly less compatible than the Horse. They form an incompatible set. The other incompatible sets are between Ox and Goat, Tiger and Monkey, Rabbit and Rooster, Dragon and Dog and between the Snake and Pig. If you check the year of birth you will notice that they are six year apart!

The Chinese astrology compatibility tools that you find on the Internet are largely based on the above mentioned principles of combination and clash. Most will also include more combinations and clashes that I have not mentioned above but I hope you get the idea.

What if you and your spouse form an incompatible set? Do not panic. Did you notice that I used the word supposedly many times? In practice our character is also heavily influenced by the month, day and hour of birth which is not taken into consideration in the above examples. Therefore it is entirely possible for a Rat person to display characteristics of other animals (influences from the month, day and hour of birth)!

In my practice, I have seen many supposedly incompatible sets of husbands and wives. They are still together after many years of marriage and some of them quite happily! Perhaps love plays a part too.

One of the first and most basic things you should do is be sure your windows are crystal clear. You can do this by simply cleaning them. Also, opening the windows often creates good energy. The next order of business would be your bedroom's lighting. If it is too bright, it can cause discomfort. However, it may be practical for you to have a bright light, so choose a few alternatives to your overhead light. Candles and low wattage lamps will give you a few different options.

Distracting and bulky elements such as computers, televisions, and treadmills should be removed from the bedroom. Also, surround yourself with pictures and paintings of how you want to feel, not necessarily what you want to see. Because pictures carry strong Feng Shui energy, it is important to have them reflect what you want.

When painting you room, choose neutral colors. You can use taupes, browns, and other flesh tones to achieve the best Feng Shui energy. It is also important that your bed be balanced on both sides with end tables. To keep stress at bay, do not line your bed up with your door. The energy from doorways is very strong and can cause you to feel negative energy such as stress and fatigue.

There are many Feng Shui products that can help you achieve all of the Feng Shui elements you would like in your bedroom. By applying Feng Shui to your bedroom you can be happier and healthier. When your bedroom is finished with its transformation, calming and passionate energies will be abundant. Sleep well!

Feng Shui and Wall Water Fountains

Wall water fountains are an important component of Feng Shui when decorating the inside of your home. Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese practice of making sure objects are placed an arranged in a room to ensure harmony and the flow of positive energy. The term literally translates to "wind-water" and water is one of the five elements of Feng Shui.

The main elements to think about when using the principles of Feng Shui in decorating are:

Earth
Wind
Water
Fire
Metal

You need to think about how you can incorporate all of these elements into your home. Earth, wind and metal are generally easy because of the many types of stones, fans and metals you can use in the furniture, flooring and decorative touches. Water and fire are sometimes harder choices to make, but you can have the element of fire simply by burning candles.

Bring water into your home a wall water fountain. These can be free standing units or smaller designs that you hang on a wall. Flowing water increases the positive energy, so just about any kind of fountain fits in well with Feng Shui. You can have a tabletop fountain in any room of your home or outside on your patio if you don't have room for a waterfall or a garden wall on which you can install a fountain.

Installing a wall water fountain is not a challenging task. There are many lightweight designs available that only require one person for the job. While most people think of the living room wall as the only place in the home for such units, they work well in all rooms, especially the bedrooms.

The sound of falling water and the sight of the water continuously flowing over the wall background of your choice is the perfect relaxation method to help you fall asleep easily. This is especially beneficial for children in helping to get them settled down and ready for bed.

The sounds of falling water also help to drown out the sounds of the rest of the household and the outside. The lighting in a wall fountain will provide a nightlight for the room. As the light catches the reflections of the colors of the water it will provide an exciting contrast for the color scheme of the room, especially if you use colored lights.

In addition to bringing the positive energy of Feng Shui into your home with a wall water fountain, the water helps to humidify the indoor air. This is beneficial all year round decreasing the need for air conditioning in summer and humidifiers in winter.

During the winter, the heat you need to have in the home can cause your hair and skin to dry out. A fountain will add moisture to the air but not too much so that it will cause any condensation on the walls. This you get the relaxing benefit of falling water and the humidity that your skin and your plants require.

With the numerous designs of wall water fountains available from online retailers, you will not have any difficulty finding a design and size to suit your home. There is a wide price range available as well, which will make it easy for you to fit this wall accent into your budget.

Feng Shui Kitchens Are the Center of a Home

The heart of the home is the kitchen. This is where families eat their meals, gather to talk, and is often the area of the home that friends and family congregate for good food and conversation. From both a practical as well as symbolic point of view the kitchen is a place that nourishes us and contributes to a prolonged life.In Feng Shui kitchens are a sign of abundance and wealth.

Ideally a kitchen would be located in the center of the house, ensuring that the abundance, wealth, and the positive energy is kept inside the home.If the kitchen is located too close to the front door or any back doors it is possible for all of the positive energy that is created in the kitchen to escape.

In a kitchen that is in tune with the principles of Feng Shui, the food you eat will provide not only nourishment but also provide your body with positive energy. The food you consume provides your body the fuel it needs to live, and if prepared in a kitchen with a harmonious flow of energy the food you eat will also be in tune with your body and nature. Happy atmosphere = happy meals = a happy family.

Incorporating healthy, natural foods in our diets is part of good Feng Shui. Eating Organic fruits and vegetables, and other foods that are free of preservatives and dyes are healthier, better for you, and provide more of what the body needs for an optimal lifeforce.There are other areas in the kitchen that can help you maintain a healthy balance in your life and a positive energy, including;

1.Ensure that your kitchen is warm and inviting.Natural light is best, but regardless; ensure that the kitchen has good lighting.Play with the window coverings or curtains to allow light to filter in naturally and remove any obstructions that may exist.Adding a skylight to your kitchen can be a great way to get additional natural light if needed and generally does not cost that much.

2. Eliminate clutter where every possible. This goes for the entire house, but clutter is something that has no place in the kitchen. Having your countertops covered with electrical appliances can create negative Chi in the kitchen.Use the rule of "a place for everything and everything in its place." Store little used appliance in kitchen cabinets or storage cabinets in some other part of the house.Wash dishes when they are dirty and don't allow a sink full of dishes to pile up, which can also bring down your personal Chi.

3.Plants help clean the air in your house, and add life to your kitchen - literally!Hang green plants in a window where they will receive fresh air and warm light, and will help remove unwanted household odors and fresh oxygen in to the room.Placing fresh cut flowers on the kitchen table or another countertop provides positive energy and is an instant pick-me-up.Keeping a bowl of fresh out on the table is a great way to not only add color and a spark to a room, but provides your family with healthy snacks to nourish their bodies.

4.A yellow or pale green are the best colors for a kitchen. These colors will naturally aid digestion, and pale green is also great for influencing wealth and success.

Whether you are just beginning on the Feng Shui path or if you have traveled this road for some time, applying the basic principles of Feng Shui kitchens will improve the health and happiness of you and your family and implementing these ancient practices can only mean great things for you and your family.

The Three Star Gods, Fuk, Luk, and Sau are very famous in Chinese culture. These three represents the gods of longevity, happiness, and rank. Although they are being referred to as god, they are not literally worshiped in the traditional way a religion will worship a God. The Three Star Gods, although they are not worshiped in a conventional sense, are highly regarded and are very much considered auspicious by the Chinese all over the globe. All Feng Shui stores selling Feng Shui products will have the Three Star Gods.

In the popular Chinese trinity of deities, Fuk represents prosperity, and is known as the wealth and happiness god. Luk represents authority and is known as the God of affluence and rank. On the other hand, Sau is the god of longevity and health. Feng Shui shops often represent the three together. The Three Star Gods are available as Feng Shui items and Feng Shui enhancers to attract prosperity, health, and wealth.

Being the Chinese deity of prosperity, happiness and wealth, Fuk is represented wearing a red robe and is a little taller than the other two Chinese deities. Fuk is placed on the right of Luk. Feng Shui remedies have it that ever twentieth day during the seventh lunar month, favors can be asked from Fuk and they will be soon granted. Fuk is known as one of the Feng Shui enhancers that will attract prosperity, happiness and wealth to come in the house or space where Fuk is placed.

On the other hand, Sau can be recognized by the bottle of nectar he is holding in his arms. Feng Shui stores say that he is carrying peach. But whatever item it is he is holding, that item symbolizes immortality. Being the Chinese deity of longevity and good health, Sau attracts good health. According to Feng Shui remedies, Sau prevents accidents and misfortune to those who reside in the space where Sau is placed.

Luk can be easily identified of the Chinese trinity of deities. He is at the center. If you go to Feng Shui shops, they will tell you that Luk is a symbol of a person's ability to reap and achieve high rewards and man's ability to improve oneself. Feng Shui remedies and Feng Shui enhancers suggest placing the three all together. Fuk, Luk and Sau when placed together at home, at your office cubicle, or place of business, the Three Star Gods can be very powerful in attracting prosperity, good health, and wealth.

To achieve the maximum attracting powers of the Three Star Gods, Feng Shui stores suggest that the Feng Shui items be placed in the living room or at the dining area. As Feng Shui enhancers, the three should also always be placed on a high table.

Feng Shui Symbols to Protect and Enhance Your Marriage

A happy and long lasting marriage so sacred and rare, that we should all be so lucky to be involved in one. The Chinese has been using feng shui symbols to attract relationship luck for hundreds of years. Here are some great feng shui tips to protect and enhance your marriage.

The dragon and the phoenix are extremely auspicious creatures that represent a happy marriage (the dragon representing the husband and the phoenix representing the wife). If you can find an amulet with these two creatures on it, carry it around with you at all times. If not, a small (never too big) picture of the dragon and phoenix in the bedroom will bring luck into the marriage. These celestial creatures are benevolent beings that not only bring happiness into the marriage, but also protect the marriage against malevolent influences.

A pair of mandarin ducks is also most auspicious for a marriage. In the wild, mandarin ducks mate for life, and will only look for a new partner after the old one has died. These are excellent feng shui symbols for a happy marriage. Have a pair of mandarin duck figurines in the living room or bedroom. You must never have more than a pair of mandarin ducks in a room. Having more than one pair symbolize extra-marital affairs.

As we all know the Southwest direction represents your luck in romantic relationships and is dominated by the earth element. Place a crystal figurine of a pink lotus in the southwest to enhance your marriage. The lotus flower is symmetrical from all angles, and is the ultimate symbol for perfection and purity. Placing a crystal lotus in the Southwest will ensure that the marriage will be free of obstacles.
